Resources for Families of International Students

The Law School is committed to providing support to students' spouses, partners, and significant others. We are pleased to invite your spouse, partner, or significant other to a number of programs specifically designed for them. Please visit this website for information about current and upcoming events and links to resources within the Northwestern community and the greater Chicago area.

To provide better services, we need additional information! Whether or not you can participate in any of these events, if you have a spouse, partner, or significant other, or dependents, please share this information with the International Programs staff at International.Programs@law.northwestern.edu.

Law School-Sponsored Events

  • Spouse Discussion Group
A discussion group for the spouses of international LLM students is offered on a regular basis. This group allows spouses to interact and spend time with other Law School spouses. The discussion groups are led by either a faculty member or community leader.
  • Spouse Potluck Dinner
A fun, relaxing evening for international families to network with one another and enjoy a home-made meal together. Children, student spouses, and family members are invited to attend.
  • For Spouses: Surviving and Thriving Through Graduate School
Join us for a gathering with a staff psychologist from the CAPS office to discuss adjusting, adapting, and promoting health and well-being of self, spouse, and family during the challenging graduate school experience.
  • Language Support
Spouses are invited to take advantage of the Law School's Native Accent pronunciation and grammar software at a reduced fee. This cutting-edge software utilizes speech recognition technology and an intelligent tutor system to improve English pronunciation.
