Reporting Concerns

Northwestern Pritzker School of Law strives to create a supportive and welcoming community. We recognize, however, that members of our community may have interactions with one another that may raise concerns related to conduct and may wish to file a report. Reports can be made to the Law School directly or to other offices within the University. Please note that, in some instances, the Law School must refer matters brought to its attention to other offices within the University, particularly matters that may implicate the University's Policies Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct, Interim Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment, or Student Code of Conduct.

Report a Concern

The Office of Community Engagement and Access: All members of the Law School community are welcome to discuss any community concerns with the Associate Dean of Community Engagement and Access by emailing community@law.northwestern.edu.

Student Services: Law School students also may discuss community concerns with the Dean of Students by emailing law-deanofstudents@law.northwestern.edu.

Report an Incident to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance: Northwestern’s Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance oversees complaints of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct at the University. An individual who has experienced misconduct has the right to choose whether to report the incident to Northwestern and request an investigation. Office staff members are specially trained to work with individuals who report misconduct and have knowledge about on- and off-campus resources, services, and options – including the availability of supportive measures.

File a Disability Grievance with the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance: Northwestern University has adopted internal grievance procedures providing for prompt, equitable and impartial resolution of grievances alleging any action prohibited by the ADA or Section 504. These procedures apply to complaints of discrimination or harassment on the basis of disability by staff, faculty, students and applicants for both University employment and academic admission, vendors, contractors, and third parties.

Report a Concern to the Office of Community Standards: The University takes very seriously the safety, security, and comfort of everyone in the Northwestern community. General concerns relating to a student or a student’s conduct including, but not limited to, concerns about the well-being of a student or potential violations of a University policy, may be reported to the Office of Community Standards. Likewise, concerns relating to hate or bias, sexual misconduct, or discrimination and harassment may be reported to the Office of Community Standards, after which the concerns will be routed to the appropriate department.

Report a Concern to the Behavioral Consultation Team: To the extent that community members observe concerning or threatening behavior by students, faculty, staff, or non-affiliated community members that does not rise to an emergency, a report with Northwestern’s Behavioral Consultation Team should be filed immediately. The Behavioral Consultation Team reviews reported concerns to assess reported behavior that might impact the safety or well-being of the campus community, gather additional information to determine a level of concern, and consider intervention and management strategies to offer support and prevent violence.

Report an Emergency or Imminent Danger: Any community member who requires assistance in an emergency or who is in imminent danger should contact University Police at (847) 491-3456 or call 911 immediately.
