Construction update - Supply/exhaust fans

Work on the installation of the new supply and exhaust fans (in the mechanical penthouse on the roof of McCormick) is nearing completion. We are now beginning to prepare for the activation of this new equipment. Beginning Wednesday morning, 1/28/15, and over the course of the next several days, filters will be placed over vents into spaces that are affected by these fans, including the following:
- Classrooms and offices in the McCormick building - Student Services suite - Registrar’s offices - Admissions Department suite and interview suites - Administrative Services offices - Faculty offices on the Gary/Coon 2nd floor corridor (affectionately known as the “Hall of Heads”)
These filters are intended to trap the majority of dust/debris that may have collected in ductwork. When the new fan systems are brought online, in the next few weeks, we will regain the ability to fine-tune temperatures in the above-named spaces. We appreciate the cooperation you all have shown during this period when only the coarsest of adjustments have been possible. We have worked to keep these spaces livable, though we know well that they have not been comfortable. I will send another announcement just before the new fans are to be started.
