Northwestern Law to Host IL Supreme Court Candidates Forum

Northwestern Law and the Bluhm Legal Clinic will host an Illinois Supreme Court Candidates Forum featuring six candidates vying to fill the vacancy of Thomas Fitzgerald in the first district. The forum will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 5 p.m. in Thorne Auditorium at 375 East Chicago Avenue.

Moderated by Northwestern Law Clinical Assistant Professors Juliet Sorensen and Jeff Urdangen, the forum will be an opportunity for law students, faculty, and the public to learn about the candidates, their background experience, and their platforms before the March 2012 Illinois Supreme Court primary election.

Participating candidates include Thomas Flannigan, Judge James Riley and Justices Joy Cunningham, Aurelia Pucinski, Mary Jane Theis, and John Tully. The candidates will be given the opportunity to answer a series of questions posed by the moderators, and the final portion of the forum will be reserved for questions from the audience. A reception will be held in the Law School Atrium following the forum.

The forum is co-sponsored by Northwestern Law’s chapters of the American Constitution Society and the Federalist Society. This event is free and open to the public.
