New Associate Dean for Administration and Finance

January 21, 2004

Rita Winters has been promoted to the position of Associate Dean for Administration and Finance. Winters first joined the Law School in March 2003 as the Interim Executive Director of the Bluhm Legal Clinic. In that position, she has moved quickly to improve the support for our faculty and students and has pushed forward plans to put the Bluhm Legal Clinic on a sounder financial footing.

Winters has a strong background in employee relations and organizational management. As the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance, she will be responsible for the management of finances and all nonacademic operations at the Law School including the human resources function and the facilities issues. In addition, she will join the Management Committee of Theresa Cropper, David Dana, Mayer Freed, Don Rebstock, and Chris Simoni.

Winters began working at Northwestern University in 1991. Prior to joining the Law School, she was the Director of the Department of Human Resources on the Chicago Campus. Winters also served as the Co-Project Leader of the Feinberg School of Medicine initiative to evaluate their organizational structure and staffing needs.

In addition to her formal duties, she has been involved in a number of university-wide initiatives including the Work/Life Balance program, the formation of the Chicago Campus Safety Committee, and the soon to be implemented University policy on Workplace Violence.
