Fair Housing Basics

This class will introduce you to the federal Fair Housing Act, the third major civil rights law passed in the 1960s which prohibits discrimination in a variety of housing and housing-related activities such as sales, rentals, zoning, and financing. The Act has two purposes – prevent discrimination and affirmatively further fair housing. You will learn about the Act’s substantive coverage, how claims are litigated under the Act, and the policy considerations that shape its enforcement.
