Advanced Torts: Products Liability and Safety Law
This course will examine the modern phenomenon of products liability and safety law – a series of legal interventions regulating the design, manufacture, and distribution of products that dates back to the early 20th century and continues to this day. We will consider harmful products from social, legal and historical perspectives; through the lens of different theories of liability (negligence, strict liability, warranty); and with regulatory, litigation, and market-based solutions in mind.
