International Business Transactions
This 3-credit course addresses the basic forms of international business transactions: contracts of sale (extending to contracts of transportation and financing arrangements); import and export regulations; agency, distributorship, franchising, and intellectual property licensing agreements; foreign direct investment (extending to the legal regulation of corruption); dispute resolution (covering arbitration and litigation); and corporate social responsibility. No prior knowledge of business law or international law is assumed. Evaluation is a 3-hour “take-home” final examination to be self-scheduled over a 3-day period at the end of the course.
