Law of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

This course explores the legal, regulatory, and policy questions raised by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. Topics include torts and liability, autonomous vehicles, consumer protection, AI agents, automated decision making, deepfakes and elections, AI in courts and government agencies, bias and discrimination, national security, the First Amendment, and emerging AI regulations. (This course does not discuss the use of AI to automate legal-services delivery, which is the subject of another course: Artificial Intelligence and Legal Reasoning.) This course has no prerequisites. The primary course requirements are (1) a substantial research paper, (2) weekly discussion questions and in-class exercises, and (3) participation (including attendance).
