About the Garrett Institute

The Institute was established in memory of Ray Garrett Jr., chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a member of the adjunct faculty of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and a partner in the Chicago office of Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP, now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. The Ray Garrett Jr. Corporate and Securities Law Institute is designed to provide private practitioners and corporate counsel with a timely analysis of current securities and corporate law developments confronting publicly and privately held corporations.

The 2026 Garrett Institute will take place October 1-2, 2026, at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, in the lobby of Thorne Auditorium, located at 375 East Chicago Avenue (MAP). Dress is business casual. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.

Registration and Tuition

Regular tuition for in-house counsel is $649 per person. Regular tuition for firm attorneys/service providers is $1,100 per person. Early-bird discounts of $100 per registration will be applied to each of these registration types through August 20, 2026.

Groups of three or more in-house counsel from the same company qualify for a discounted rate of $449 per person. Registrations must be entered at the same time in order for discount to apply; if subsequent cancellations result in falling short of the registration quota required for discount, standard pricing will apply.

Registration in advance is strongly encouraged. On-site registration is available only as space permits and is not guaranteed. On-site registrations will also require an additional administrative fee of $100 per registration. Registration is for both days of the program for one individual. Shared/split registration is not available. If you have not received an email confirmation prior to the start of the program, you are not considered registered. Please contact our office to verify.

Registration will close at 11:59 p.m. CT on September 20, 2026. Requests received after that date will be permitted only as space permits and require an additional fee.
