Program Structure
Designed for working legal professionals, the Executive LL.M. in Madrid combines intensive in-person study with online coursework, allowing participants to continue their careers while completing the program. The flexible executive format brings together the academic resources of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and IE Law School while minimizing extended time away from professional responsibilities.
Students complete intensive two-week academic sessions on the Chicago and Madrid campuses, complemented by online coursework. This structure provides participants with opportunities to study in both the United States and Spain while progressing toward their degree alongside their professional commitments.
The Executive LL.M. requires 21 credits of coursework. All courses are mandatory, providing students with a structured and cohesive curriculum focused on American common law, its application in international practice, and essential areas of management. There are no elective course requirements.
Upon successful completion of the program requirements, participants earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and a Certificate in Business Administration from IE Law School. Executive LLM in Madrid.
Curriculum
The Executive LL.M. is designed with the needs of working professionals in mind, combining in-person and online instruction so participants can continue their careers while pursuing the degree.
Students complete intensive in-person sessions in Chicago and Madrid, complemented by online coursework. The nine-month curriculum is organized into three academic periods, featuring courses offered by Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and IE University.

Student Profile
The Executive LL.M. in Madrid is designed for legal professionals whose international practice can benefit from a deeper understanding of the American legal system. The average candidate has 5 to 10 years of professional experience, bringing substantial professional knowledge and perspective to the classroom.
Participants also join a diverse, global community of legal professionals. Since the program’s creation in 2006, students from 35 countries have participated, creating an international learning environment where students benefit not only from the curriculum and faculty, but also from sharing professional experiences and perspectives with one another.

U.S. Bar Eligibility
