Application Process

To apply for the MSL program, please submit the online application through the Slate portal

The application requires the following:

  • A statement of purpose that addresses specific questions
  • One letter of recommendation
  • A resume or CV
  • Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate programs
  • International students must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score or apply for a TOEFL/IELTS waiver
  • Online format applicants: video interview
  • Residential format applicants: the admissions committee may request a video interview

Applicants are encouraged to submit standardized test score reports (e.g., GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT), but a test score is not required. Applicants are also free to submit additional letters of recommendation. 

There is no fee to apply for the MSL Program.

Application Deadlines

For the Fall 2020 start in all programs, MSL applications are accepted and reviewed in three rounds:

First round deadline January 31, 2020
Second round deadline April 1, 2020
Third round deadline June 15, 2020

UPDATE MARCH 2020: Due to circumstances regarding COVID-19, the MSL is modifying application deadlines and timelines:

  • After the April 1 deadline, we will review applications on a rolling basis.  Applicants will receive a decision within 4 weeks after application completion. 
  • International students requiring a visa for the MSL program must submit their application no later than May 1, 2020; this deadline is necessary to allow adequate time to secure a visa.
  • Our final round deadline has been extended from June 1 to June 15, 2020.

For a Spring 2021 start in the online program, applications are accepted and reviewed in the following two rounds:

First round deadline August 31, 2020
Second round deadline October 31, 2020
