Overview

The Patent Conference is the largest annual conference for patent scholars in the world. The conference is a cooperative effort among the University of Kansas School of Law, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, University of San Diego School of Law, and Boston College Law School to hold an annual conference where patent scholars in law, economics, management science, and other disciplines can share their research. In 2010, the founders of PatCon—law professors David Olson, David Schwartz, Ted Sichelman and Andrew Torrancerealized the growth and importance of research in the area of patents.

Conference Organizers

David Schwartz (Northwestern Pritzker School of Law)
David Schwartz teaches and researches in the area of intellectual property and patent law, with a particular emphasis on empirical studies of patent litigation.

David Oslon (Boston College of Law)
Professor Olson is an associate professor at Boston College Law School. He teaches patents, intellectual property, and antitrust law. Professor Olson researches and writes primarily in the areas of patent law and copyright.

Ted Sichelman (University of San Diego School of Law)
Professor Sichelman teaches and writes in the areas of patent law, intellectual property, law and entrepreneurship, empirical legal studies, law and economics, and law and artificial intelligence.

Andrew Torrance (The University of Kansas School of Law)
Torrance teaches and conducts research in patent law, intellectual property, innovation, food and drug regulation, biotechnology law, biodiversity law, biolaw, and empirical, experimental, and big data approaches to the law.
