Energy Law and Policy

This is a survey law class on Energy Law. The class will cover the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks governing energy production, transmission and use in the United States. The course will include energy economics, public utility regulation, ratemaking and pricing, energy type-specific regulation, regulation of electricity, alternative and clean energy sources, the interplay between energy and environmental policies and international energy issues. Registration Requirements: No prerequisites for this class. Knowledge of administrative law, environmental law, and basic economics are helpful but not required. Evaluation Method: Evaluation will be based primarily on a final examination. Class participation will be considered and will benefit (but not reduce) the final grade.
