Clinic Practice: Center for Criminal Defense
This Clinic's primary focus is the trial level representation of adult defendants facing criminal charges, both Federal and State. Pending cases raise issues involving, among others, perjured informant testimony, self-defense, battered woman's defense, and malicious prosecution - which may involve a trial for damages on behalf of a former client wrongfully convicted of murder. In addition to frequent and direct client contact, opportunities are often presented for students to participate in courtroom advocacy, including jury trials, pre-trial evidentiary hearings, and sentencing proceedings. PRE-REQUISITES: CRIM 610 Constitutional Criminal Procedure or LITARB 635 Evidence are recommended, but not required
